PICTORIAL: First Lady welcomes first baby of the year

The arrival of the first baby of the year 2025 was celebrated by a notable figure, who visited Asokoro General Hospital in Abuja to present gifts to the newborns. The gifts were given to the first male child, first female child, and other babies born on January 1st. The gesture was made to show support and commitment to ensuring a better life for Nigerian children.

Representing the First Lady, the Vice President’s wife pledged support for the newborns and their families. The babies received gifts including post-natal care products, nutritional supplies, and cash presents. The event was captured in a press statement by the Special Assistant to The President on Media & ICT from the Office of The Vice President.

The newborns included Favour Stephen Odion, a baby girl born to the Odion family, and Zimchikachim Ejiofor, a baby boy born to the Nworie family. The First Lady’s representative prayed for the children’s well-being and future success, emphasizing the importance of proper care such as exclusive breastfeeding and immunization.

Birth certificates were presented to the first babies of the year, and the First Lady’s representative visited the maternity ward to congratulate other new mothers. The acting Chief Medical Director of Asokoro District Hospital commended the administration for its efforts in improving healthcare services for all Nigerians. Additionally, praise was given to the First Lady and the Vice President’s wife for their intervention programs, especially the Renewed Hope Initiative benefiting vulnerable populations in Nigeria.
