During a meeting with NAF Veteran residents in Kaduna, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, announced the acquisition of these new aircraft. The NAF is set to receive 24 M-346 fighter aircraft and 10 additional Agusta Westland 109 Trekker helicopters from Italy in the near future.

Furthermore, the NAF expects to receive two additional T-129 ATAK helicopters from Turkey, 3 CASA 295 transport aircraft from Spain, and 12 AH-1Z Vipper helicopters from the United States. The Air Chief emphasized that the NAF is dedicated to enhancing its operational effectiveness through these acquisitions.

In addition to acquiring new aircraft, the NAF has implemented a predictive maintenance culture to reduce equipment failures and downtime. The force has also made significant progress in various areas over the past 18 months, including infrastructure overhaul, operational enhancements, and the establishment of new branches and directorates.

The NAF aims to become a more effective and agile force to address security challenges in the country. Through strategic partnerships with foreign air forces and exhibitors, the NAF seeks to enhance its capabilities and operational effectiveness. Initiatives to improve personnel welfare, such as affordable housing and meal subsidies, are also being prioritized by the NAF.
