In a recent operation carried out by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, several individuals were arrested for their involvement in illicit drug activities. Among those apprehended were a Lagos socialite and a Nollywood filmmaker. The Lagos socialite, known as “Iya Ruka,” was found to be running a drug cartel from the Mushin area of Lagos. She was arrested at her Okota mansion after NDLEA operatives intercepted a truck carrying a large quantity of cannabis, driven by one of her staff members.
In a separate incident, a motivational speaker and US-trained Nollywood filmmaker named Emeka Mbadiwe was arrested in a Lekki hotel following the apprehension of his associate, Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James. Mbadiwe was allegedly involved in a drug trafficking operation that included the importation of cannabis from the United States.
Additionally, a ring of young drug dealers producing drug-laced cupcakes in Ilorin was dismantled by the NDLEA. Two individuals, a fresh graduate and a university student, were arrested for producing and selling drug-laced cupcakes to students in the community.
Furthermore, an ex-convict named Sodade Eniola was rearrested for passport racketeering after being released from prison. Eniola, who had previously been convicted for drug trafficking, was found to be part of a syndicate smuggling passports concealed in shoe soles and food items.
In Port Harcourt, a significant quantity of codeine-based syrup was intercepted during a joint operation with Customs officers. Similarly, in Kano, NDLEA operatives recovered a large number of tramadol and exol-5 pills during a raid in Dala Local Government.
