The Bauchi State Police Command recently announced the recovery of N784,000 from officers found guilty of misconduct. The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, shared this information in a statement, emphasizing the command’s achievements in 2024.
The funds recovered were returned to the victims of the extortion, as part of the efforts to address public complaints against officer misconduct. A Complaint Response Unit within the Police Public Relations Department handled 10 complaints during this period, all of which were thoroughly investigated.
In total, 18 officers faced disciplinary actions, demonstrating the Force’s commitment to upholding professionalism. One police constable was dismissed, four officers had their ranks reduced, six received warning letters, and four were reprimanded.
The Commissioner reiterated the command’s dedication to maintaining discipline, ensuring accountability, and building public trust for improved service delivery.
