At a private ceremony held at the palace of the Emir of Kano, a high-ranking police officer known for turning down a significant bribe has converted to Islam. During the event, the officer was warmly received into the faith and took on the name Muhammad. The Emir encouraged him to deepen his understanding of Islam and adhere diligently to its core tenets, such as belief in Allah, daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and charitable giving. Additionally, the Emir prayed for his guidance to become a model Muslim globally.
He was advised to maintain his exemplary character and to continue showing respect and obedience to his parents, regardless of their religious beliefs. Previously, the officer declined a substantial bribe offered by armed robbery suspects, who had stolen a large sum of money during a robbery. His integrity was acknowledged by the Police Service Commission, promoting him to a higher rank in recognition of his actions. Furthermore, he was honored by former President Muhammadu Buhari with a prestigious Public Service Integrity Award based on a recommendation by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
