BREAKING: Senator Azuta Mbata elected new Ohanaeze president-general

Former Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District has been elected as the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a prominent Igbo socio-cultural organization. The position of Secretary-General was secured by the former Deputy Governor of Anambra State during the selection of new executives held in Enugu.

The newly elected President-General, who hails from Rivers State, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a senator for the Rivers East constituency from 1999 to 2007. The election process, conducted via voice voting, saw the election of 15 other individuals to various executive positions within the organization.

During the election, Governor of Enugu State emphasized the importance of unity, stressing the need to prioritize the collective interests of Ndigbo above individual or partisan concerns. He highlighted the historical significance of the organization and the values of unity and brotherhood that have guided its formation since the 1970s.

The newly elected President-General expressed gratitude for the support received and pledged not to disappoint the Igbo people. Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma called on all Igbo people to support the new leadership in advancing Igbo interests and emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and progress in Igbo land. He extended prayers for wisdom and guidance for the newly elected Ohanaeze leadership.
