Ogun, W’Bank partner to revamp 75 health centres

In partnership with the World Bank, the government of Ogun State has initiated a project to revitalize 75 Primary Health Care centers spread across the state’s 20 local government areas.

This project falls under the World Bank-supported initiative, Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services.

During a contract-signing event in Abeokuta, Dr. Kofoworola Olajide, the State Project Manager of IMPACT, highlighted the project’s goal of reducing under-five mortality rates and enhancing healthcare service delivery.

The focus is on improving access to quality healthcare services, particularly benefiting women and children in underserved communities.

Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, the Executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Development Board, lauded the project as a transformative initiative for the healthcare sector in Ogun State.

Renovating and equipping the PHCs is expected to significantly boost access to quality healthcare for rural and underserved populations.

The commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun to fortifying the state’s healthcare system was underscored by Ogunsola, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to citizen welfare.

Bolaji Anjorin, a World Bank Consultant for the IMPACT project, emphasized the meticulous contractor selection process to ensure efficient achievement of project goals.

He mentioned the establishment of a monitoring team involving World Bank representatives, state officials, contractors, and stakeholders to supervise the project’s progress and uphold high standards.

Mrs. Delia Omatshola of Peculiar People’s Management, representing the contractors, expressed appreciation for the opportunity provided by the Ogun State Government and the World Bank.

She assured the commitment of the contractors to deliver quality work aligned with the project’s objectives.
