The Ogun State Police Command reported the arrest of two individuals, Opeyemi Ibrahim and Dimeji Bakare, for allegedly using fake bank transfers to purchase clothing valued at N220,000 from a seller named Christopher Chukwuma in Oru Ijebu, located in the Ijebu North Local Government Area. The suspects, known for such fraudulent activities, were apprehended on Monday, according to the state police command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola.
One of the suspects had previously engaged in a similar offense in 2023, where they bought a generator worth N140,000 through a fake bank transfer. The Divisional Police Officer of Oru-Ijebu received a report of obtaining goods under false pretense from Christopher Chukwuma on January 13, 2025.
Odutola mentioned that the suspects, who lacked a legitimate source of income, were caught red-handed in their fraudulent scheme of using fake bank transfers to pay for goods. The police arrested them with evidence, and further investigation is ongoing. Once the investigation is completed, the suspects will be brought to court to face charges.
