The Federal Capital Territory Police Command successfully rescued a five-year-old girl named Miracle Yakubu and apprehended a 46-year-old man, Nawaisi Abdullahi, for her alleged abduction. The incident occurred as police officers and local vigilantes responded to a distress call on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at approximately 10:00 AM.
Abdullahi was spotted walking with the child near the Mobil Filling Station along the Jabi Expressway. Following a preliminary investigation, it was discovered that he had taken the child without her mother’s consent, who is a local bean cake (akara) vendor in Utako Village. The police intercepted them, ensuring the safe return of the child to her family.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, emphasized the priority placed on the safety and security of all residents. The swift response of the officers and the collaboration with local vigilantes were commended for the successful rescue operation.
The suspect is in custody as investigations continue to uncover the full details of the abduction. The Police Public Relations Officer reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining a safe environment and urged residents to report any suspicious activities promptly.
