The National Assembly has called on the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, as well as the Budget and Economic Planning counterpart, Senator Atiku Bagudu, to appear before its committee due to concerns over the budget allocation to the Ministry of Solid Minerals for the 2025 fiscal year. The joint committee on Solid Minerals issued the summons after Bagudu did not appear before the house as previously directed. The committee expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed N9bn capital vote for the ministry and extended the summons to the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu. Edun, Bagudu, and Yakubu are expected to appear before the committee. Senator Sampson Ekong commended the minister’s efforts to seek an upward review of the budget allocation but expressed disappointment that no changes were made to the proposed N9bn allocation.
