The recent tax increase in Enugu State has been justified by the government as a necessary step to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic progress. During the Annual General Meeting of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, the Deputy Governor explained that the adjustment in taxes was essential for promoting business expansion and ensuring sustainable development within the state. Despite recognizing the challenges associated with tax increments, the government emphasized that such decisions were crucial to overcome financial constraints and encourage active involvement in the state’s advancement. The administration aims to establish Enugu as a thriving hub for businesses and is dedicated to supporting their growth. The upcoming Enugu International Trade Fair, scheduled for April 4 to April 14, 2025, was also announced during the meeting, highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to boost economic activities.
