OOU students emphasise unity in diversity in stage play

A group of 200-level students from the Performing Arts Department at a university in Ogun State recently impressed both students and staff with their rendition of the play Echoes of the Drums, written by Ola Awakan.

The play served as a practical workshop for the students, incorporating drum instrumentation and dance to communicate impactful messages.

Through their dance drama, the students beautifully portrayed the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people, showcasing their rich traditions through costumes and artistic expression.

Commending the students, the Head of the Department praised their performance and acknowledged Femi Jacobs for overseeing the production, expressing delight in the students’ progress.

Jacobs also lauded the students for their exceptional effort, especially highlighting the impressive performance of the triplets who took on non-drumming roles.

The lead director of the play, Messach Ilumo, expressed satisfaction in witnessing the culmination of hard work and dedication during the production.
