The gesture was aimed at influencing their loyalty, but many students recognized the underlying attempt and refused to be swayed. It is commendable that student leaders stood firm in addressing the genuine issues affecting Nigerian students rather than accepting superficial handouts.
The situation highlights the concerning state of affairs within the ruling political party and its approach to education in the country. Despite this, there are positive developments in various sectors such as publishing, design, travel, and fashion that showcase Nigeria’s potential for growth and recognition on a global scale.
However, the government’s failure to fulfill its promises, particularly in the education sector, remains a significant obstacle to the nation’s progress. The current administration falls short of its commitments to improve educational standards and student welfare as outlined in its manifesto. The inadequate budget allocation to education further underscores the government’s negligence in prioritizing this crucial sector.
