Over the weekend, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority took action to remove around 120 illegally parked tankers and vehicles near Dangote Refinery and in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
Spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq stated that the dislodgement was necessary to prevent disruptions to traffic flow caused by these violations, despite prior warnings.
Directed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, the operation aimed to ensure a smooth and orderly flow of traffic in Lagos.
Giwa emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscriminate parking of tankers in areas like Dangote Refinery, Lekki-Epe Free Trade Zone, and Lekki-Ajah Expressway.
In addition to the removal of the parked vehicles, LASTMA also established a Traffic Monitoring Zone in Lekki to manage traffic operations effectively.
Giwa mentioned that all impounded vehicles would face legal action at the Lagos State Mobile Courts as a deterrent against future illegal parking incidents.
Motorists were urged to comply with traffic regulations to ensure smooth traffic flow and promote orderliness in Lagos.
