Timileyin Ajayi, the individual accused of the tragic death of Salome Adaidu, has entered a plea of not guilty to the crime. The Nasarawa State Police apprehended him on January 12 and brought him before the court on a charge of culpable homicide punishable by death.
During the court proceedings presided over by Justice Simeon Aboki in Lafia, the suspect maintained his plea of innocence. The Officer-in-Charge, Legal, of the Nasarawa State Police, Stanley Nwaforagu, expressed the commitment of the police to pursue the case diligently for justice to prevail.
The defendant, Mr. Timileyin Ajayi, was formally arraigned in court on the charge of culpable homicide and entered a plea of not guilty. The trial is scheduled to take place from the 17th to the 20th of March for expedited proceedings.
The legal counsel representing the defendant, Joseph Tukur, affirmed his dedication to ensuring a robust defense for Ajayi throughout the legal process. The defense’s role is to guarantee that the prosecution fulfills its obligation to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court aims to conduct a swift trial, and both sides are prepared to present their arguments in the pursuit of justice.
