A member of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos Division passed away after collapsing, as seen in a circulating online video. The officer, not in uniform, was found deceased in an undisclosed location in Lagos. The video displayed the officer’s body surrounded by concerned individuals, including police officers who searched his belongings and found his EFCC identity card.
In the video, a voice mentioned the officer’s affiliation with the EFCC, confirming his identity. The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation into the officer’s death was ongoing.
Earlier reports indicated an incident where an EFCC Assistant Superintendent, Aminu Salisu, was shot by a suspected cybercriminal during a raid in Onitsha. Oyewale condemned negative reports surrounding the officer’s death and assured that justice would be pursued by the commission.
