The Nigeria Customs Service at Murtala Muhammed Airport reported a total revenue of N180.75 billion from imported cargoes in 2024. They also seized contraband valued at N10.51 billion during the same period. The Command Area Controller, Micheal Awe, shared these figures at a press conference in Lagos. Awe highlighted that the revenue generated in 2024 was significantly higher, almost doubling the amount generated in 2023. The command surpassed its revenue target of N179.74 billion by generating N180.7 billion, showcasing a 0.56% increase for the year. Additionally, the command made significant seizures of various contraband items to safeguard the nation, including drones, turtles, Tramadol, ammunition, military hardware, sea cucumber, and other items with a total Duty-Paid Value of N10.51 billion. Awe emphasized the command’s dedication to enforcing customs laws and regulations, promising to continue efforts to meet revenue targets and ensure compliance while maintaining integrity and professionalism.
