Following a tragic incident in the Lekki area of Lagos State, two individuals have lost their lives, and six others have been injured due to a collapsed building. The structure, which was still under construction, fell on the workers at the site on Tuesday evening.
Reports indicate that one adult male was pronounced dead, and three others were injured initially. Subsequently, a teenager was also found deceased at the site, bringing the total number of fatalities to two, with six individuals sustaining injuries.
The search and rescue operation, led by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, was ongoing to ensure the safety of those affected. The bodies of the deceased victims were handed over for necessary procedures, while the injured were treated by medical personnel.
The collapsed building has been completely demolished using heavy-duty equipment to prevent further risks, as confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
