UPDATED: Police quiz Ogun monarch assaulting man in viral video

The Ogun State Police Command recently questioned the Olorile of Orile-Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, in connection with an incident where he was seen in a viral video verbally and physically assaulting one of his chiefs, Arinola Abraham. The video showed Arinola kneeling on the road while Ogunjobi cursed him and threatened him. The monarch, a retired police officer, even boasted of his influence and threatened to jail the chief.

Following widespread condemnation, the police spokesperson confirmed that the monarch had been interrogated by the police. The Force Public Relations Officer emphasized that justice must prevail and that no one can control the police force. The Ogun State Government subsequently suspended the monarch for six months due to his behavior, which was deemed unfit for a traditional ruler.

The state police command is conducting an investigation into the assault, with both parties providing their accounts at the state police command. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served and uphold human rights principles. The police unequivocally condemned all forms of assault and violence and assured the public of updates on the case.
