Abia targets N120bn IGR in 2025

The Abia State Government aims to increase its internally generated revenue to N120bn in the 2025 fiscal year. The State Commissioner for Information emphasized the importance of IGR in supporting developmental programs. The government plans to enhance its IGR efforts to achieve this target. Despite progress in revenue generation, there is a goal to further increase the revenue base. Over 17,000 teachers have applied for teaching positions in primary and secondary schools in the state. The recruitment process will be merit-based and transparent. Additionally, a medical mission conducted by a Belgium Medical Group in the state resulted in 114 major surgeries and treated over 915 patients, leading to the acquisition of advanced medical equipment by the Abia State Teaching Hospital.
