The Oritsuwa of Warri Kingdom, Godday Erewa, has refuted allegations connecting the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to pipeline vandalism and illegal oil bunkering. A recent report suggested that a company chaired by the Delta State monarch was involved in such unlawful activities. Erewa dismissed these claims as groundless, emphasizing that the traditional ruler has never partaken in any illicit ventures.
Erewa, in a statement released on Wednesday, highlighted the Olu’s continuous efforts towards the advancement of the Warri Kingdom and the Niger Delta region as a whole, making it implausible for him to engage in illegal activities. He pointed out that the monarch has undertaken various projects and initiatives to foster socio-economic growth, peace, and community welfare.
Expressing dismay over the timing of the allegations, Erewa insinuated that they were orchestrated to deceive the public and besmirch the monarch’s reputation for personal gain. He urged the public to disregard these accusations, emphasizing the Olu’s commitment to ethical practices, peace, transparency, and environmental protection in the region.
Erewa called upon Nigerians to ignore the unfounded claims and recognize the Olu of Warri’s dedication to national progress. Rather than undermining esteemed leaders, he advocated for collaborative efforts towards nation-building. The statement reiterated the Olu’s role as a symbol of hope, a peacemaker, and a forward-thinking leader focused on the prosperity of his people. His initiatives in ensuring security, economic growth, and sustainable development have positively impacted the Warri Kingdom and its environs.
