SeamlessHR, a Nigerian HR-tech startup, is expanding its customer base by focusing on government agencies. This strategic move allows the company to access the growing public sector market in Nigeria, which boasts a substantial workforce of over 720,000 civil servants. By targeting government entities, SeamlessHR aims to establish a strong presence in this sector and achieve sustainable growth.
Specializing in serving medium to large enterprises, SeamlessHR is currently in discussions with various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), such as the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), to bring them onboard its platform. The startup has already successfully provided performance management services to Nigeria’s Port Authority (NPA) and recruitment solutions to the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program.
The company’s Chief Technology Officer, Deji Lana, emphasized that SeamlessHR’s success in the private sector has laid a solid foundation for its entry into the public sector. Lana expressed confidence in the platform’s adaptability to meet the specific requirements of government agencies, addressing issues like transparency, ghost workers, and fair resource allocation.
SeamlessHR faces increasing competition in Nigeria’s HR-tech space, with new players challenging its position. Despite this, Lana remains optimistic, citing the company’s comprehensive HR tech solution tailored to local challenges. The entry into the government sector aligns with SeamlessHR’s vision of contributing to the digital transformation of public institutions by offering efficient and scalable HR solutions.
While transitioning government agencies to its platform may pose challenges due to legacy systems and bureaucratic procurement processes, SeamlessHR aims to simplify the migration process. The company plans to introduce new technology integrations, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance its offerings, such as an AI-powered recruitment agent for conducting interviews.
As SeamlessHR looks ahead, its focus remains on assisting Nigeria’s public sector in modernizing HR functions. Success in overcoming bureaucratic hurdles, securing government contracts, and transitioning institutions from legacy systems will be critical for SeamlessHR’s advancement in the government sector.
