10 Delta PDP lawmakers set to join APC – Omo-Agege

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, announced that a significant political shift is imminent in Delta State as he revealed that 10 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party in the Delta State House of Assembly are preparing to switch allegiance to the All Progressives Congress. This move is seen as a challenge to the PDP’s stronghold in the state.

Omo-Agege, who contested as the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, disclosed this development during an event where Chief Itiako Ikpokpo (aka Malik), a two-term chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, officially joined the APC.

Speaking at the gathering in Uro-Irri, Omo-Agege emphasized that the political landscape in Delta State is undergoing a transformation with the potential defection of 10 PDP lawmakers to the APC. This move, coupled with the existing seven APC members in the House, could shift the power dynamics in the state.

Omo-Agege credited the growing support for the APC in Delta State to the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, which he claimed had significantly boosted the state’s federal allocations. He highlighted the positive impact of these policies on governance and stated that more politicians are aligning with the ruling party due to its achievements.

The defection of Chief Itiako Ikpokpo was hailed as a pivotal moment for the APC by Omo-Agege, who commended Ikpokpo’s unwavering support and expressed optimism about the party’s future in Delta State. Ikpokpo, in turn, pledged to enhance the APC’s presence in the state and work towards its success in the upcoming elections.

Members of the APC, including Isoko South Chairman Vincent Egbogbo, viewed the defections as a promising sign of forthcoming victories. Egbogbo emphasized the importance of unity within the party to secure a triumph over the PDP in the 2027 elections.
