Pope Francis hospitalised with bronchitis — Vatican

An announcement from the Vatican stated that an 88-year-old individual has been admitted to a hospital in Rome for tests and treatment related to bronchitis, which caused recent breathlessness and necessitated the delegation of speech-reading duties to officials.

The individual, who had a portion of one lung removed during youth, has been encountering breathing issues for more than a week, prompting the need for hospitalization at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital for diagnostic tests and continued bronchitis treatment in a hospital environment.

Previously, this person was hospitalized for three nights in March 2023 due to bronchitis, and in December of the same year, a visit to Dubai for a conference was canceled because of a recurring bronchitis episode.

Various health challenges, such as knee and hip pain, an inflamed colon, and hernia surgery, have been faced by this individual in recent times.
