Tributes are pouring in for the late elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who passed away at the age of 96 in Lagos. Many are commemorating his dedication to democracy, unity, and good governance.
Senator Orji Kalu hailed Adebanjo as a patriotic leader and a strong advocate for democracy and national unity. Kalu praised the late statesman’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s socio-political development.
Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, recognized Adebanjo as a champion of equity and inclusiveness and a foremost nationalist. Anyaoku honored Adebanjo’s unwavering belief in Nigeria’s potential.
Afenifere leader, Dr. Ebun Sonaya, highlighted Adebanjo’s commitment to Nigeria’s unity and progress, noting his influence as a successor to Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Sonaya expressed that Adebanjo’s demise leaves a significant gap and emphasized his loyalty and love for the country.
Following the news of his passing, family members, Afenifere leaders, and associates have been visiting Adebanjo’s Lagos residence to pay their respects.
