NNPCL, Dangote refinery trade words over alleged substandard fuel

Authorities at the Dangote refinery have clarified that the contentious fuel allegedly purchased from a Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited filling station did not originate from their refinery.

Speaking anonymously, the officials affirmed that Nigerians can distinguish the quality of Premium Motor Spirit from the Dangote refinery due to its distinctiveness from fuel from other sources.

The NNPC has denied allegations of selling substandard petrol with a high burn rate in response to a viral video circulating online.

The video featured a content creator showcasing the differences in the performance of fuel purchased from different stations, including the NNPCL and the Dangote refinery.

However, the NNPCL asserted that the petrol sold at their Ojodu Berger filling station was sourced from the Dangote refinery, dismissing the claims made in the viral video as baseless and lacking credibility.

They emphasized that their fuel is meticulously formulated to ensure efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability, with a significant portion sourced from the Dangote refinery.

The NNPC condemned the dissemination of misleading information and affirmed their commitment to providing quality fuel to consumers while adhering to industry standards.

Meanwhile, sources from the Dangote refinery expressed confusion over the NNPC’s attempt to implicate them in the controversy, highlighting that not all NNPC fuel is sourced from their refinery.

The Dangote refinery officials questioned the NNPC’s motives in associating them with the issue and suggested that the focus should be on the quality of fuel rather than unnecessary controversies.
