FRSC showcases body cameras, mobile app, future plans at 37th anniversary

The Federal Road Safety Corps recently celebrated its 37th anniversary, highlighting its growth and achievements over the years. The Corps Marshal emphasized the expansion of Sector and Zonal Commands, attributing these changes to the improvement in road safety nationwide.

Efforts to reduce road crashes and promote safety awareness have been successful, with a significant decrease in incidents. The Corps remains dedicated to enforcing traffic laws, conducting awareness campaigns, and collaborating with stakeholders to further enhance road safety.

Technological advancements like body cameras for officers and a mobile app for emergency response have been introduced to streamline operations. The Corps also launched a Health Maintenance Organisation initiative to provide healthcare for its personnel and families.

Ongoing modernization efforts include harmonizing Marshals’ rankings and transitioning to digital systems. The proposal for an armed squad to protect FRSC officers in risky situations is under consideration by the National Assembly.

Partnerships with the public and private sectors are crucial for the Corps in reducing road accidents. Embracing new technologies and prioritizing staff welfare and training are key focus areas for the future to ensure safer roads for all Nigerians.
