General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.) has refuted any involvement in the tragic death of journalist Dele Giwa, who was killed by a parcel bomb in 1986. Giwa, a vocal critic of Babangida’s military regime, was accused of illegal activities prior to his death. Despite longstanding suspicions, Babangida denied any role in the incident in his autobiography, expressing hope that the truth will eventually come to light. He criticized the media’s handling of the case and highlighted the unsolved nature of Giwa’s murder. The autobiography was presented in Abuja alongside the launch of Babangida’s presidential library, with various dignitaries in attendance, including former presidents, military leaders, and business figures. The event featured notable speakers and attracted a diverse audience of politicians, industrialists, and traditional rulers.
