During the buildup to the upcoming National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress, it has been revealed that the agenda will encompass various significant topics. These include an account audit, an assessment of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje’s performance, and a review of the recently concluded off-cycle elections in Edo and Ondo states.
Additionally, the agenda includes discussions on the party’s budget proposal for 2025, preparations for the November governorship election in Anambra, the payment of dues by federal appointees and APC lawmakers, updates on the ongoing e-membership registration, and a presentation on the newly established Progressive Institute.
A source from the party secretariat emphasized that the meeting is routine and not expected to lead to any major decisions, despite speculations about the potential exit of the National Chairman. The purpose is primarily to fulfill procedural requirements and address any political pressures.
This gathering will mark the first major meeting since Ganduje assumed leadership of the National Working Committee. The appointment of Ganduje and the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, was ratified at the previous NEC meeting held in Abuja.
The NEC meeting, initially postponed, is now scheduled to take place following a leaked memo signed by Basiru. It will be chaired by key figures including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former President Muhammadu Buhari.
