The All Progressives Congress recently criticized a former Governor of Kaduna State for his remarks about President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The National Vice Chairman of the APC (South East) expressed disappointment in the ex-governor’s comments during a TV interview, particularly regarding the president’s economic policies. The former governor also mentioned his failed ministerial nomination and criticized Ribadu’s appointment as NSA.
Responding to the criticisms, the APC official described the ex-governor as a disgruntled individual whose expectations were not met by the Tinubu administration. The official dismissed concerns about the ex-governor defecting to the opposition, stating that many notable politicians have recently joined the APC.
In a separate interview, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory hinted at leaving the APC, claiming the party had deviated from its original values. He expressed a willingness to explore other political platforms that align with his beliefs if the APC does not realign with its founding principles.
The former governor also mentioned consulting with people in Kaduna to determine a suitable candidate for the 2027 presidential election, avoiding a direct answer about supporting the president’s re-election bid. Despite rumors of potential defection to the PDP, the ex-governor denied any plans to join the party, emphasizing his commitment to not considering the PDP as an option.
Additionally, the ex-governor announced his absence at the upcoming APC meetings, citing inadequate notice and prior commitments. He mentioned flying to Egypt and expressed confidence that his friends attending the meetings would update him on the discussions.
