A meeting was held by officials of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, headed by Technical Adviser Planning, Osa Konyeha, with local government representatives to discuss the upcoming Purple Line rail project.
Key stakeholders present at the meeting included the Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, Johnson Babatunde, Chairman of Iba LCDA, Yisa Jubril, and Secretary to Alimosho Local Government, Dare Ogunkoya, who stood in for the Council Chairman, Jelili Sulaimon.
As per a statement released on Tuesday, LAMATA highlighted that the Purple Line is a 57km rail route linking Redemption Camp to Volkswagen, featuring 17 stations and connecting with Lagos’s existing rail network.
The engagement was conducted by LAMATA representatives, including Lead Consultant, Dr. Babatunde Osho, Head of Corporate Communication Kolawole Ojelabi, and Dipo Quadri.
“This awareness campaign comes before the scoping exercise, which is a necessary step in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment prior to project commencement.
“The local authorities have committed to supporting LAMATA in executing this significant project that will positively impact many lives along the corridor,” the statement mentioned.
