The head of Odogbolu Local Government, Babatunde Diya, has restated his administration’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of residents by improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure. He revealed plans to increase healthcare accessibility by enrolling 2,000 individuals in a health insurance scheme known as the ‘Iwosan Tunde’ initiative. During the celebration of his first 100 days in office, Diya emphasized his commitment to supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun’s initiatives for quality governance at the grassroots level.
The commemoration event at Mobalufon Hall included free medical services such as malaria, hypertension, and blood sugar screenings, along with the provision of medications. Diya highlighted achievements like installing a new borehole in Ikosa, collaborating with organizations to aid 300 elderly residents, revitalizing healthcare facilities, and implementing waste-to-wealth projects.
He expressed the goal to screen 5,000 residents and enroll a minimum of 2,000 in the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme under the Ministry of Health, ensuring every Odogbolu resident has access to quality healthcare. The Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Sikiru Adefuwape, and other traditional rulers praised Diya’s efforts and urged him to continue developing the local government.
Dennis Ogunnaike, the Special Assistant on Youth Development and Technology Innovation to Governor Abiodun, commended the ‘Iwosan Tunde’ initiative as a strategic response to healthcare challenges in the area. He lauded Diya’s innovative and community-focused leadership style, noting his proactive engagement with stakeholders and decisive actions to address critical issues.
