United in pole position to land Osimhen

Manchester United is reportedly leading the race to secure the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window. The Red Devils are said to be willing to activate Osimhen’s €75m release clause to bring him to Old Trafford in a bid to strengthen their attacking options.

Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in impressive form this season, scoring 20 goals and providing five assists in 25 appearances across all competitions. Reports suggest that a move to Manchester United is highly likely as Osimhen looks set to leave Napoli permanently after his loan spell ends.

While there were speculations of a potential swap deal involving players like Rasmus Hojlund or Alejandro Garnacho for Osimhen, it now seems that United is ready to trigger his release clause outright. Paris Saint-Germain is also expected to compete with United for Osimhen’s signature, with Saudi Arabian clubs possibly rekindling their interest in the player.

On the other hand, Chelsea, who were previously interested in Osimhen, are now focusing on Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. However, they could still re-enter the race for Osimhen before the summer transfer window closes in 2025.

It is anticipated to be a busy transfer window for Manchester United as they aim to make four new signings, including a center-forward, a defensive midfielder, a center-back, and a wing-back. Manager Ruben Amorim has mentioned that they may need to sell players before making new acquisitions, making the market challenging for the club.
