Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have dispersed supporters of the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, from accessing the National Assembly Complex.

Supporters had gathered at the assembly gate but were dispersed by police officers using tear gas to prevent a breach of peace.

The protesters had assembled at the national assembly gate early in the morning with the resumption of plenary and hearings of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions scheduled for the day.

Reports indicate that the protesters have now relocated to the Unity Fountain to continue their protest.

The lawmaker had a disagreement with the Senate President over seating arrangements on the Senate floor on a previous date and was subsequently referred to the Senate’s ethics committee.

Recently, the lawmaker accused the Senate President of misconduct and defamation following an alleged incident of sexual harassment.
