A group of youths in Babbe have expressed their support for the resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland. They are calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and prevent any interference from certain political figures in Rivers State. The youths emphasized the importance of their involvement in the oil exploration process and urged for their active participation.
During a dialogue committee meeting in Bori, a youth leader named Comrade Effort Ndeesor endorsed the oil exploration initiative, highlighting the necessity for youth engagement. He stressed that allowing the youths to contribute meaningfully is vital for progress.
Ndeesor also requested President Tinubu to advise certain officials against meddling in Rivers State affairs. He emphasized the importance of Governor Fubara focusing on the development of Ogoniland without distractions, asserting the unity and solidarity among Ogonis and their neighboring communities.
Additionally, spokesperson Solomon Lenu from the Rivers State Civil Society Organizations praised Governor Fubara’s commitment to the region’s growth and urged for support and cooperation to ensure his success. He condemned political disruptions in the state and emphasized the need to allow the governor to work unhindered.
The Babbe youths, along with opinion leaders and civil society groups, united to denounce political disturbances in Rivers State and warned against any attempts to cause unrest. They emphasized their commitment to peaceful resolutions and their support for the governor’s efforts to advance the state.
Another youth leader, Hon. Prince Felix Lebabari Legbara, strongly criticized any attempts to undermine the democratic choice of the people of Rivers State. He called for President Tinubu to intervene and uphold the people’s decision, emphasizing the need to respect the will of the electorate.
The concerns raised by Legbara and other Babbe youths reflect a broader sentiment among Rivers State youths regarding the safeguarding of democratic processes and the urgent need for stability in the state.
