Market: Soludo warns contractors against delay, threatens revocation

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, recently visited the Oduigbo Ochanja market project in Onitsha and expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the construction work. He issued a two-week ultimatum to the construction firm to complete the project or risk losing the contract. Soludo emphasized the need for speed in completing the market project, which began last year.

During the inspection, the governor highlighted plans to enhance the market, including additional buildings, modern toilets, boreholes, street lights for extended business hours, and a car park for shoppers. He emphasized the importance of preventing flood disasters in the upcoming rainy season by inspecting all construction sites.

Soludo also mentioned the state’s focus on discouraging fraudulent practices and promoting hard work and skills development among the youth. He emphasized the need to steer people away from get-rich-quick schemes and towards a culture of hard work and skill acquisition. The state government has been actively training youths in various skills and providing grants to support their development.
