The leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, under the Inspector-General of Police, has officially inaugurated the newly restructured Force Management Team (FMT), indicating a new direction for the institution. This event, which took place on March 10, 2025, coincided with the appointment of six new Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), aligning the Police Force with the security agenda set by the Federal Government.

The press release titled “Force Management: IGP Inaugurates New Force Management Team, Restates Agenda for Nigeria Police Force” highlighted the IGP’s vision of a professional, service-oriented, and community-friendly Police Force.

The statement, signed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, emphasized key priorities set by the Inspector-General. These priorities include focusing on critical reforms to enhance the investigative capabilities of the Police, particularly through the reorganization and specialization of units like the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID).

The Inspector-General directed the update of the Force criminal database and urged collaboration between the Department of Research and Planning (R&P), the FCID, and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to ensure the database supports investigations and policing strategies effectively.

Emphasizing modernization, Egbetokun stressed the importance of adopting cutting-edge technology and providing continuous training to officers to tackle contemporary challenges. The commitment to a justice-oriented approach that upholds human rights and professionalism was reiterated.
