Katsina empowers 7,220 widows, others with cash, food items

The Katsina State Government has initiated a program to distribute cash grants and food provisions to 7,220 widows and underprivileged women in the state as a part of their social welfare scheme. The governor of the state, Dikko Umar Radda, officially launched the program at the Government House, starting with the distribution of 25kg bags of rice and ₦10,000 cash assistance to 840 women from various local government areas.

Radda emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the government’s dedication to aiding vulnerable groups in society. He highlighted the importance of supporting widows and less privileged women, acknowledging the hardships they face and the necessity to provide them with opportunities for economic stability and social integration.

The program aims not only to offer immediate relief but also to create sustainable avenues for beneficiaries to improve their lives and contribute to the state’s progress. The governor expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in making the initiative successful and encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the resources wisely to enhance their livelihoods and that of their families.

The State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Ishaq Shehu Dabai, revealed that the beneficiaries come from all 34 local government areas of the State, with a focus on widows. Each ward has selected 20 women to benefit from this support program.
