MTN Nigeria, the leading mobile network operator in the country, is in the process of constructing its new headquarters within the Eko Atlantic development. This move aligns with the trend of major corporations like First Bank and Dangote Group relocating to this 10-square-kilometer city. The decision to establish their headquarters in Eko Atlantic showcases MTN’s confidence in the city’s potential as a prominent business hub in Nigeria.
The CEO of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, revealed this development during the MyLagosApp launch event in Lagos. He emphasized the company’s commitment to making substantial investments in Lagos by acquiring land in Eko Atlantic City for their new headquarters.
Eko Atlantic City, launched in 2008 with ongoing land reclamation, is strategically positioned adjacent to Victoria Island, the primary business district in Lagos. It aims to become a sophisticated commercial hub, attracting various corporations, real estate investors, and esteemed organizations due to its modern infrastructure and well-designed urban layout.
In addition to their headquarters, MTN Nigeria is also constructing West Africa’s largest Tier 4 data center in Lagos. This cutting-edge facility will accommodate 1,500 racks and operate as a carrier-neutral hub, facilitating interconnections for multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and cloud service providers. Despite this, the data center will not be located within Eko Atlantic but on the Lagos mainland.
Toriola highlighted the significance of this data center in advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation, reinforcing the country’s position as a frontrunner in technological innovation.
