The Kaduna State Police Command has refuted claims made by a former governor regarding the alleged abduction of his former commissioner by a purported “kidnapping gang” linked to the police. The former governor accused the police of remanding the commissioner in prison without proper documentation.
In response, the police command dismissed these allegations as baseless and malicious. The command emphasized that their actions are in accordance with the law and due process. They clarified that the police have the legal right to arrest and investigate individuals suspected of criminal activities.
The police command stressed that there is no kidnapping gang within the Nigerian Police Force and that their mandate is to uphold law and order as stipulated by the constitution. They advised the public, especially former officials, to refrain from making unfounded accusations against security agencies and instead seek legal recourse if needed.
It was reiterated that making unverified claims against security agencies can be misleading and detrimental to law enforcement efforts. Citizens were encouraged to verify allegations before making public statements and to address grievances through appropriate legal channels.
