In an effort to tackle thuggery and substance abuse, the Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation recently carried out a comprehensive operation in the state. The operation, conducted over two days in various areas like Yakasai, Kofar Mata, Zango, and others, resulted in the arrest of 53 suspects and the seizure of illicit items such as cannabis sativa, codeine syrup, and weapons.
The Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who is also the committee’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the successful operation. Additionally, the committee apprehended five cattle suspected to be owned by a notorious drug dealer and recovered a variety of illicit items like tablets, weapons, and charms.
Under the leadership of Dr Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, the task force is dedicated to cleansing the streets of Kano and bringing peace back to the communities. All suspects will face legal action once the investigation is complete, as stated by Waiya. The collaboration between the task force and other security agencies played a crucial role in the operation’s success.
This operation marks a significant milestone in the fight against thuggery and substance abuse in Kano State, as highlighted by the commissioner.
