Reinstated Osun LG chairmen divided over APC gov candidate choice

The recently reinstated local government chairmen in Osun State are currently in disagreement over the choice of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the state. Some of the chairmen had previously expressed support for a specific candidate, while others distanced themselves from this endorsement.

A press release was issued by the Osun Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Samuel Abiodun, refuting the endorsement made by a group of chairmen. Abiodun emphasized that any statements made were personal opinions and did not represent the collective stance of all reinstated chairmen.

The disagreement highlights the potential for division and discord within the party. The party leadership, under the direction of Adegboyega Oyetola and Alhaji Taju Lawal, will ultimately decide on the APC governorship candidate for the upcoming election. It is crucial for all present and former council heads to avoid actions that could harm the unity of the APC in Osun State.

Abiodun stressed the importance of loyalty to the party leadership and cautioned against supporting unverified statements or groups that could tarnish the reputation of the APC. The final decision on the APC candidate will be made by the party leadership, and all members are urged to await this decision and uphold their commitment to the party’s success.
