Waste collection truck triggered Kwara garage fire – Official

In the early hours of Tuesday, a fire broke out at Alagbede Tipper garage in Ilorin, Kwara State, damaging three out of the 42 trucks parked there. The fire originated from a waste collection truck with lit charcoal inside, spreading to two other trucks before being extinguished by the prompt response of the Kwara State Fire Service.

Similarly, another incident occurred at No. 1 Awolowo Road in Tanke, Ilorin, where a shop was destroyed by fire. The fire service responded swiftly and contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the neighboring shop. Investigations revealed that the fire started from a solar battery in one of the shops.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service advised the public to prioritize fire safety measures and proper installation of solar power setups in well-ventilated areas to prevent fire incidents. The fire service reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and properties through proactive fire prevention and rapid emergency response.
