Senate denies Akpabio intimidating Natasha

In an interview, a suspended senator from Kogi Central compared the Nigerian Senate to a secretive group where members are too afraid to disagree with the Senate President. The senator revealed a culture of fear among lawmakers, suggesting that challenges to the Senate President’s decisions could result in lost opportunities and privileges.

The senator also alleged instances of misconduct by the Senate President, claiming that she faced inappropriate advances and remarks from him and other senators. Despite these allegations, the Senate’s Deputy Majority Leader denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the notion that the Senate operates like a cult where members are silenced.

The suspended senator’s conflict with the Senate leadership stemmed from a disagreement over seating arrangements, which resulted in her suspension for six months. She accused the Senate President of targeting her for rejecting his advances and sought international intervention to address the situation.

During a session at the United Nations, the senator raised concerns about the treatment she faced, including security withdrawal, salary cuts, and a six-month ban from the National Assembly.
