The Gombe State Police Command apprehended two individuals, Ikechukwu Chinedu, 22, and Abdulwahab Mohammed, 18, for being in possession of 76 sachets of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp. The arrest took place during a routine patrol by the Anti-Violence Squad in Tumfure Quarters, Gombe, on March 20, 2025, at around 9:00 pm.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Buhari Abdullahi, stated in a press release that the state is actively working towards eradicating drug-related activities. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to the authorities.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing investigation, and will face legal charges once the investigation is completed. This arrest is part of the ongoing efforts by the command to combat crime and ensure the safety of all residents in Gombe State.
