At the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency operatives seized 72 parcels of heroin disguised as chocolates from a 42-year-old Indian woman. The drugs, weighing 11 kilograms, were found in her luggage during a search based on credible intelligence.
The woman, identified as Ms Neetu, was apprehended during the clearance of a Qatar Airways flight arriving from Bangkok, Thailand. NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa noted that drug trafficking organizations are increasingly using foreign nationals to smuggle drugs into Nigeria, a trend that vigilant NDLEA officers are actively combating.
In a separate operation in Kano, a 45-year-old suspect named Michael Ogundele was arrested with a 50-liter gas cylinder containing 50,000 pills of tramadol. Additionally, 40-year-old Sunday Ogar was caught with 27kg of skunk in Gunduwawa, Kano.
In Lagos, Olumuyiwa Kolawole and Samod Adisa were apprehended with 67.5kg of skunk in Mushin. Another operation in Mushin led to the recovery of 100.8kg of skunk from two fleeing suspects. Furthermore, Isah Idris was arrested in Apapa with skunk, tramadol, and codeine syrup, while Yahaya Mohamed was apprehended in Ikotun with various quantities of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine.
