Adeleke vows clampdown on communal conflicts as community urges Tinubu’s intervention

The Governor of Osun State recently visited areas affected by communal clashes in Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin Osun communities, expressing dismay at the significant destruction of properties. He urged security agents to apprehend those responsible for the violence.

The conflicts, which initially stemmed from boundary disputes between Ifon and Ilobu communities, escalated to Erin Osun, prompting the state government to extend the curfew from 12 to 24 hours in the affected towns. Numerous houses were set on fire during the clashes, leading residents to seek refuge in neighboring areas to avoid harm.

Accompanied by security officials, the Governor toured the affected sites to assess the damage. He commended the security forces for enforcing the curfew and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace for the state’s development and attracting potential investors.

The Ilobu Asake Development Union called on prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu, to intervene and ensure the replacement of security personnel in the area with competent officers. They also demanded the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attacks and requested additional security measures to safeguard the community.

Efforts are being made to restore peace and security in the affected areas and prevent further violence to protect the residents and promote a conducive environment for development.
