President Bola Tinubu recently extended his congratulations to former President Goodluck Jonathan for being awarded the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award. The statement, issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, highlighted Jonathan’s dedication to peace and democracy, earning him global recognition.
Tinubu praised Jonathan’s commitment to peacebuilding and democracy, citing his peaceful handover of power after the 2015 presidential election. The Sunhak Peace Prize Committee was also acknowledged for its efforts in acknowledging individuals working towards global betterment.
Established in 2015, the Sunhak Peace Prize is presented biennially to those fostering global peace and development. The award focuses on sustainable human development, conflict resolution, and environmental conservation. Jonathan is set to receive the 2025 Founders’ Sunhak Peace Award in Seoul, South Korea, from the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation.
