Sunshine Stars return to Ijebu Ode for Heartland battle

Sunshine Stars FC, a team in danger of relegation in the Nigeria Premier Football League, will be returning to the Dipoo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode for their upcoming match against Heartland. This move was approved by the NPFL board, allowing Sunshine Stars to play at their original home ground for the 2024/25 season. The decision to relocate back to Ijebu-Ode came after facing logistical challenges at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Sunshine Stars had been playing their matches in Ikenne but will now return to Ijebu-Ode for their match against Heartland. The team has been unable to play at their Akure sports complex due to ongoing renovations. With only eight games left in the season, the team is determined to secure their spot in the league and climb out of the relegation zone. Their upcoming match against Heartland is crucial as both teams are fighting to avoid dropping down a division. Sunshine Stars have 33 points from 30 matches, while Heartland has 34 points from the same number of games. Coach Abubakar Bala is focused on improving the team’s performance to secure more points and move away from the danger of relegation.
