Kano gov accepts commissioner for internal security’s resignation

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has approved the resignation of Major General Muhammad Idris (retd.), who served as the Commissioner for the newly established Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services.

In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for the retired general’s service during his short tenure. The governor recognized General Idris’s role in the initial establishment of the ministry.

Although no specific reason was provided for the resignation, Governor Yusuf bid farewell to the former commissioner, commending him as a committed public servant and a patriotic Nigerian.

“We acknowledge Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his dedicated service and contributions to the progress of Kano State, starting from his military career. We wish him a peaceful retirement as he transitions into a well-deserved break from public duties,” Yusuf stated.

“Despite its brevity, his tenure is credited with setting a strong foundation for the ministry, which the governor believes his successor can leverage to advance the operations of the new Ministry,” the statement added.
